Zena and Fearghas were, how can we put it, a little down on their luck when they met. Oh, and at the start of a Global Pandemic! Even COVID-19, and the 170 odd miles between them couldn't stop them from feeling convinced that they'd found the person they'd spend the rest of their lives with. They spent those early months of COVID getting to know each other over WhatsApp. Finding that they were reading the same book coincidentally, loved the same music, and when it came down to it, they had the same values and aspirations.

They first met in July 2020, socially distanced, except for Fearghas asking to hug Zena at the end (to which she agreed). Edinburgh had been a significant place for Zena already, and even more so after that first date where they wandered through the streets in-between closed shop fronts and people wearing masks.

 

It felt like the only place Fearghas could propose. The place they'd spent many days since that first one, flicking through pages of books, walking their pug Snape to a bar, eating flavoured ice creams and trying out all the pizza the city has to offer. And of course, Zena said yes. Fearghas proposed down one of those streets they often walked around on one of those other perfect days they'd had, because with this couple there's been a lot of them in that city, and there will certainly be even more.
